On Thursday, 17th October, the second event of the monthly cycle of Pop-Up Gaeltachtaí occurred at Café des Taxis in Mala strana!
In the cosy new surroundings of the student bar of the Anglo-American University, the event - organised by Adam Volf with the support of the Czech-Irish Business and Cultural Association - followed up on September’s flagship evening at O’Che’s bar in Prague’s Old Town.
Attendees at the Gaeltacht, as before, conversed for several hours through the medium in Irish, networking and connecting as they explored their competencies in the historic language, seemingly seeing a revival in Ireland and on the continent.
Several of the attendees also later attended the presentation of Dr Radvan Markus - Senior lecturer in Irish language and literature at Charles University - as he presented his latest work: a translation of celebrated Irish-language writer Seosamh MacGrianna’s autobiography Mo Bhealach Féin into the Czech language. The session took place at the Irish Embassy in Prague on October 24th, and added another event to an ample (and growing) calendar of Irish-related events in Prague.
The next Pop-Up Gaeltacht will take place in mid-November: make sure to keep tabs on the CIBCA calendar, CIBCA website and social media. All enthusiasts of the language are welcome!
Ní neart go chur le chéile!
