Successful First Pop-Up Gaeltacht in Prague!
On Monday, 9th September, the first meet-up of Irish-language speakers and practicants took place in comfortable surroundings of O’Che’s Irish Bar in Prague.
The event, organised by Adam Volf with the support of the Czech-Irish Business and Cultural Association, marks the flagship gathering of what is intended to be a monthly event allowing a channel to all to exercise their Irish-language skills.
The Gaeltacht attracted 16 attendees, who conversed for several hours exclusively in Irish, making use of various language aides and vocabulary lists left for their use. The event attracted participants of all ages and profiles, Irish and non-Irish alike, all of them united by their common desire to support the indigenous language of Ireland and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union.
The next such event is earmarked for 17th October - make sure to keep tabs on the CIBCA calendar, CIBCA website and social media, and to register your intention to attend via this form if you would like to be present. All enthusiasts of the language are welcome!
