A Celebration of Culture and Fun
We were delighted to again link up with the Wild Geese, to celebrate yet another of the ancient Irish festivals, the autumnal Equinox. Over six thousand years ago our ancestors constructed the mystical mound of Cno'bha (Knowth) to determine the dates of the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. Both the rising and the setting of the sun on those dates were recorded and celebrated, and bonfires broadcasted the event from hilltop to hilltop all over Ireland and onward to our sisters and brothers in Alba, Cymru, Kernow, and Mannin,
Our combined forces (rechristened 'WildCIBCA'), continued that celebration on the slopes of Parukářka in Prague with music, feasting, song and dance around our own symbolic bonfire. Féach ar na pictiúrí, bhí an craic go h-iontach!
The event was blessed with amazing weather and saw a fantastic turnout of attendees, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere, for a memorable Equinox BBQ, that will be remembered for a long time.
Dazzling Performances
One of the highlights of the day was the captivating performances by the talented dancers from TJ Academy of Irish Dance and Sona Sól. Their energetic and graceful moves added an extra layer of excitement to the event, mesmerizing the audience with their skills and passion. Not only did they perform for the guests, dances specific to the regions of attendees, but they also took the time to teach everyone some basic dance moves, creating a truly interactive experience.
The BBQ was a feast for the senses, with a wide array of delicious food that satisfied every palate. From traditional Irish dishes to BBQ favorites, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The jovial atmosphere, filled with laughter and good conversation, created a sense of community and togetherness that truly captured the spirit of the event.
Overall, the Irish Community Equinox BBQ in Parukářka was a resounding success, bringing people together to celebrate Irish culture, enjoy great food, and create lasting memories. Here's to many more gatherings filled with joy, laughter, and the spirit of community!
