Do you love books but struggle to find the time to read? Or perhaps you’re looking for interesting book recommendations and a friendly place to connect with others? If so, the CIBCA Social Book Club might just be what you’re looking for!
How It Started
CIBCA launched its Social Book Club in February of this year, and since then, it’s grown into a vibrant community of about 20 members. We meet once a month, typically on the first Thursday, at the cozy The Three Fiddles pub. Whether you’re a dedicated bookworm or someone who just enjoys a good chat, this club offers something for everyone.
How It Works
The book club is as relaxed as it gets. There’s no required reading list, and you don’t even have to finish a book to attend. Instead, each member brings a book they’ve enjoyed or found thought-provoking to discuss with the group. If someone else is intrigued, they can borrow the book and read it themselves. It’s a great way to explore genres and titles you might not pick up on your own—whether it’s an enthralling thriller, a heartfelt memoir, or a hidden literary gem.
If you enjoy a little challenge, you can use the club’s next meeting as motivation to finish your borrowed book. But if life gets in the way, that’s okay too! The atmosphere is friendly, casual, and completely free of pressure. While books are the main focus, the club is just as much about connecting with like-minded people. Many of our members simply come for the great company and stimulating conversation, and whether you’ve read a single page or ten books in a month, you’ll feel right at home.
We also occasionally invite authors to present their published works to the group, adding an exciting dynamic to the discussions. If you’re an author interested in sharing your work with us, we’d love to hear from you!
Join Us in the New Year
As the holidays wind down and the New Year begins, why not make a resolution to enjoy more books and great company? Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8th, at The Three Fiddles. It’s the perfect opportunity to ease into 2025 with fresh book recommendations, lively discussions, and maybe even a pint or two. This event is free and open to members and non-members alike.
So, whether you’re a literature lover, a casual reader, or just someone looking to meet friendly people, we’d love to see you there. Bring a book, or just bring yourself—we promise you’ll leave with a smile and some great new ideas for your next read.
We hope to see you on January 8th! Until then, happy reading and happy holidays from all of us at CIBCA. 📚✨
